George Morris and Aoife Kane attended the Altro Limited International Forum where the focus is on inclusive design. Designing for the care industry Carless + Adams doesn’t just consider age but also disabilities – physical and mental, visible and hidden. We’re really excited about meeting the industry speakers and being heavily involved in the interactive sessions.

Day two at Altro Limited International Forum saw George Morris present to the audience about the impact of colour in design and thinking about the colour palette of the future.

Dementia is not a specific disease but a syndrome associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning. There are many causes of dementia and many types, impairments may include cognitive, sensory and mobility. When designing for  dementia it is important to think about how a space may be perceived. The use of light reflective value (LRV) scale allows for the use of tone rather than colour when considering interiors and colours schemes. Tonal contrast is very important to for materials to be seen against each other. This can help a person with dementia retain independence longer within a dementia care setting and is an area we feel strongly about.
