Approval received in South Hams, Devon

May 16, 2024|In Carless + Adams

Approval has been granted in response to a variation in condition to a planning approval granted in 2018 for a 68-bedroom care home. The original planning approval was extended due to the Covid pandemic, as were all planning approvals granted during this time, due to construction work being unable to commence.

The variation in design was also in response to Covid, to allow for considerations around isolation due to potential contagious illnesses amongst residents, provide access routes within the building and also for external suppliers to access the facility. The variation allowed the design to incorporate additional sedum roofs, a green wall and greater outside space for residents via larger balconies and ground floor terraces. It also enabled Carless + Adams to incorporate changes in building regulations since 2018 and include new sustainable building methodologies.

The facility will be located next to an existing retirement community. The approved care home is located next to the River Dart and provides fabulous views for the residents whilst providing a care facility in the region offering additional employment for local people.
