Christmas puzzle competition winners celebrate by nominating Speedwell Court care home to receive a portal to keep in touch with family.
This Christmas was a very different one for many of us, especially for those in care homes. Carless + Adams were conscious that many residents have had little or no contact with their loved ones since March 2020 and we wanted to find a small way in helping one care home make that connection. We ran a Christmas puzzle competition spreading some architect humour and the winner, Michael Davey of McCann, nominated Speedwell Care Home in Southampton to receive the Facebook portal which allows video calls. The residents of Speedwell Care Home, whose partner company is Abbeyfield, were overjoyed to receive this and it’s been in constant use! Sam Tabiner from Abbeyfield was instrumental in ensuring that the Portal was delivered and installed for the residents. Michael meanwhile received a bottle of champagne so we wish him a very merry Christmas!
Abbeyfield, were on BBC Radio Solent talking about how important communication is for their residents and it was heart-warming to hear the positive impact our competition prize of a Facebook Portal has given to their residents. The device has enabled residents to speak with their family and friends from across the globe, bringing additional happiness and smiles through connecting with them visually when potentially they might not have had this opportunity.
This goes a little way to explain why Carless + Adams is passionate about what we do – ensuring the elderly can thrive, live their best possible lives and stay connected with their families.
