Melissa and George were fortunate enough to combine a trip to the Netherlands with a visit to ZINN De Dilgt, an integrated retirement community. De Dilgt is an exemplary facility designed as a calm, easy navigable care home with an active community environment for those that require specialist care.

Di Dilgt has excellent facilities including a weekly market, shop, church services, hair dresser, beautician, cafe and restaurant plus a physiotherapy and occupational therapy rehabilitation centre. The care home benefits from vast outside open space with walking routes and activities such as billiards, boules, side-by-side tandem and wheelchair bikes which local residents are encouraged to use, further integrating the care home into the local community.

The visit enabled Mel and George to spend time with residents, care givers and the operator to experience and appreciate their methodology, integrated technology and vision for care. The Netherlands is known in the care industry as advanced in its offering and embracing new developments which Carless + Adams is keen to translate to the UK….and Mel and George loved trying out the electric tandems too!
