Following a positive consultation with the local community and parish council, a full planning application has been made for alterations to Village Green Care Home in Bedford.
The proposed works to the existing care home are planned to improve the quality of beds and enhance the use of the Grade II listed building on site. Part of the care home, which is derelict with bedrooms no longer fit for purpose, requires demolition and rebuilding to accommodate the needs of the residents and enhance the relationship with the external areas. The proposal for Village Green Care Home is to retain the listed building on the site and a partial demolition of the single-storey element to improve the access to the car park via Bedford Road. The approach to the main entrance is considered a key feature which links between the retained operational care home and the new extension forming a link to the listed building.
The proposed Care Home includes refurbishment to the existing facility and a new addition accommodating generously sized bedrooms which are all equipped with associated facilities including an en-suite.
The proposals for the new complex will ensure that not only will the accommodation be up to and beyond current standards and expectations, but are founded on the provision of suitable, bespoke and high quality care for existing and future residents for many years to come, and as such will remain a valuable asset for the residents in the future.
