Carless + Adams has recently submitted a planning application for a new 60 bed care home in Lowestoft for KRG Healthcare Group. This will be dedicated to residents with varying types of dementia and replace the existing 25 bed care home that exists on the site. The new care home will provide a fit for purpose accommodation with modern spatial ratio and a range of communal / activity spaces.
The concept of the scheme revolves around a central communal hub with two wings then radiating from the core. The new scheme boasts attractive views due to its East-West orientation, with both communal rooms and bedrooms taking advantage of these. The domestic scale of the building aims to reduce the ‘institutional feel’ that some care homes can often have and the architectural style and interior design follows the client’s concept of achieving an open, fresh and vibrant atmosphere to the care home.
