Project Brief

Situated in a highly sought-after area behind Kensington High Street, this five-storey Georgian townhouse was to undergo complete refurbishment to provide a high-end family home including an extensive basement, internal lift and landscaped outdoor area.


This project provided many challenges through the construction phase not only due to the basement construction but also the site constraints across multiple floors. One particular hazard was the installation of natural stone balustrades on the second floor, with the only access for moving the stone being up a curved staircase. This was solved by the use of a stair-climbing sack truck, with each load securely fastened, and the installation was completed safely and on schedule. The challenges of safely fitting extensive wiring needed to provide the house with full ‘Internet of Things’ connectivity were also met with careful co-ordination of the Client, Principal Contractor and CDM Advisor.
