Public consultation for Village Green Care Home in Bedford
Carless + Adams attended a public consultation for Village Green Care Home in Bedford that we have designed.
Carless + Adams attended a public consultation for Village Green Care Home in Bedford that we have designed. We invited members of the public to view the proposed scheme to assist the design development for a future planning application. The proposal included alterations and extensions to the existing care home to improve the quality of beds and enhance the use of the Grade II listed building on site. Part of the care home, which is derelict with bedrooms no longer fit for purpose, requires demolition and rebuilding to accommodate the needs of the residents and enhance the relationship with the external areas.
The consultation enabled local residents and business owners to ask any questions about the scheme and provide feedback. The proposal was well received by some residents, and respondents were looking forward to the standard of the care home being improved for current and future residents.
Visitors and neighbours were keen to see the sympathetic restoration of the listed building and looking forward to it being integrated with the care home and enhance the visual character of the area.
We are currently awaiting to receive a formal written response back from central Bedfordshire council. The next step for Carless + Adams is to present to the local Parish Council in September where the design will take into account further considerations from the local councillors.
