Chris J. James and Rukhsar Zahid were invited to present at University of Reading on behalf of Carless + Adams last week to discuss the future of care in the built environment. The presentation opened the discussion on the changing standards of care provision and the need to modernise care homes to enhance the delivery of care. It was great to be able to introduce the process of architectural practices and the value in nurturing sustainable and integrated communities through the design of these facilities.
 
This lecture formed part of a series in the undergraduate Industry + Practice module and we are pleased to see there is an interest in the curriculum to change the perception of care. The students were shown a couple of our recent projects and had the opportunity to learn how we approach designing for an aging population which will inform their design module later this year.
