The Practice
Carless + Adams is an award-winning, independent Architectural Practice, providing professional advice and services in architecture. Led by the ever passionate and vocal team of Melissa Magee and George Morris, the practice focuses solely on design for care.
The business began in 1972 and became a limited company in 2019.
Our team has successfully delivered a wide spectrum of projects within the sector, including care homes (residential and nursing), dementia care homes, integrated retirement communities, extra care apartments, cottages and retirement villages, extra care apartments, healthcare centre, specialist care, refurbishment and extensions, green belt, heritage assets and conservation areas.

We incorporate ESG principles into all our work to help create sustainable designs that hold longevity. Designing a building that isn’t going to stand the test of time is not a viable or ethical option and is against all our beliefs. ESG is intrinsic to everything we design.
Environmental – we recognise that our designs will have an environmental effect and our working practices and policies detail this to minimise such impact. We complete sustainability studies for every project from BREEAM or LEED. Longevity for design can only come from sustainable design. We are ISO 14001 registered.
Social – we are ISO 9001 registered and put our people at the front of everything to promote, wellbeing, health and diversity through equal opportunities. We support Part 2 and Part 3 Architects through mentoring on their RIBA training and provide CPD opportunities for all.
Governance – Our Governing board of directors is supported by Business Advisors and together they drive business practices, focus on operations and enhance process with input from the team.
